Kundalini: as the MerKaBa is centered at the base of the spine, it has a direct effect on the kundalini energy that is housed there also. According to the Vedic understanding of the kundalini energy, it is coiled 'like a serpent' 3 1/2 times at the coccyx and under certain conditions will rise to the top of the body in an 'awakening' experience. It essentially means that this dormant energy flows freely up the spine and has a positive effect on the various chakras centers of the body. The MerKaBa facilitates this process of kundalini awakening by aligning the energy fields in that location and facilitates greater movement of energy throughout the body. It also opens blocked channels and cleanses the chakra points.
