Amid all the speculations Virat Kohli and Anushka Sharma have finally tied the knot in Tuscany, Italy on 11th Dec; and they are now man and wife. The ceremony was a hush-hush affair, which took place in a resort near Tuscany, and it was attended by family and close friends.
Both bride and groom wore Sabhyasachi ensembles on the D-Day, which were colour-coordinated. The bride looked resplendent in a pale pink lehenga, which featured embroidery in vintage colors, while the groom looked dapper in a colour-coordinated ivory-raw silk sherwani. The sherwani featured hand-embroidery in a vintage banarasi pattern and complimenting it was a rose silk safa.
The wedding took place as per the Hindu rituals and there was an engagement ceremony, haldi and mehendi ceremony prior to the wedding.
For engagement, Anushka wore a red velvet saree designed again by Sabyasachi Mukherjee. It featured hand-embroidery using pearls and finest zardozi and marori. And Virat looked dapper in his three-piece suit, paired with a black waistcoat.
The Mehandi was a boho-inspired colourful ceremony. Anushka opted for hot pink and orange graphic lehenga, paired with floral blue blouse. Virat kept it simple with signature khadi kurta churidar and pink textured Nehru jacket.
Post the wedding, the duo shared the news of their wedding on Monday via identical tweets, which read- "Today we have promised each other to be bound in love forever. We are truly blessed to share the news with you.This beautiful day will be made more special with the love and support of our family of fans & well-wishers. Thank you for being such an important part of our journey."
The couple will host two grand receptions – one on December 21 in Delhi and the other one on December 26 in Mumbai.
