Shibori - Itajime

Itajime shibori, é uma técnica de tingimento com o tecido dobrado e prensado entre ripas de madeira.
Materiais:
-tecido de algodão
-corante próprio para tecido de algodão. Neste vídeo utilizei corante azul marinho da Jamsartinge.
-pedaços de madeira, hashi
-barbante
-tesoura

Para fazer a fixação coloquei um pouco de sal.
Após o enxague, desejando aumentar a fixação da cor, tornando o tingimento mais resistente ao sol, suor e outros agentes de desbotamento, utilize o fixador JamFix.

Existem muitos tipos de corantes, então o melhor é seguir as instruções do fabricante.

Shibori - Japanese tie-dye

Materials:
-Cotton fabric
-Dye suitable for dyeing cotton fabric
-Small wood blocks/ and wooden chopsticks
-Cotton strings
-Sewing thread
-Scissors

1- Fold the fabric several times (using an accordion fold). Then, secure the fabric with the wood blocks tied with the cotton string. [you can tie the fabric with de thread as well.]
2- Soak the fabric in the water
3- Prepare the dye - place the dye in a bowl and dissolve it in water.
4- Boil plain water in a pan and add half of the dissolved dye to the boiling water.
5- Soak the fabric in the pan and let it stay for 15 minutes stirring once in a while.
6- Remove the fabric from the pan.
7- Add the rest of the the dye to the pan. Next, add a pinch of salt.
8- Return the fabrics to the pan to dye for more 15 minutes stirring.
Add the dye in 2 steps to avoid making the color too intense. That way, you can check to see whether the desired color has been attained before adding more dye.
9- Rinse well, untie the fabrics and let it dry and it's ready!

Note: There are several different kinds/types of dye, therefore it's important to follow the instructions by the dye maker.
