Tawny Owl nesting box March 2023. Episode 1

For the last 10 years I’ve put up nesting boxes for Tawny Owls with cameras in them and had varied success. Some years we’ve had 2-3 chicks that have grown and fledged whilst other years we’ve had failed eggs 😢. This year I built a new box with upgraded cameras. The camera on the outside stays in colour throughout the night whilst the inside camera turns to infrared lighting at night (black and white) so as not to disturb the natural sleeping patterns of the chicks. I’ll be doing another video later on the build of the nest box and the cameras used. In this video we see the male and female (Jim and Gerda) checking out the new box. Hopefully they will choose it to have their chicks. Enjoy
