What is the difference between ‘have had’ and ‘had had’ in English?

‘Have had’ is the present perfect tense. ‘Had had’ is the past perfect tense. So, what is the difference between the present perfect and the past perfect?

The present perfect (have had) is for talking about something that started in the past and is still true now.

For example: I have had my car for 5 years (which means I bought my car 5 years ago and I still have it now).

The past perfect (had had) is for talking about something that started BEFORE something else in the past and was still true at that point in the past.

For example: 2 years ago, I had had my car for 3 years. It means I bought my car 3 years before that point in the past and I still had it 2 years ago.
