On September 24, 2024, Rail Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw successfully conducted a test run of the indigenous Kavach 4.0 safety system on a locomotive from Sawai Madhopur to Indergarh Sumer Ganj Mandi in the Kota division. This demonstration is part of Indian Railways' "Mission Raftaar," which aims to enhance safety and speed through innovative technology.

During the trial, Minister Vaishnaw engaged with locomotive pilots and gathered information about the Kavach system. The event was attended by key railway officials, including Mrs. Shobhana Bandopadhyay, General Manager of West Central Railway, and Mr. Amitabh, General Manager of North Western Railway.

The Kavach system plays a crucial role in the ongoing project aimed at enabling trains to run at speeds of up to 160 km/h over a distance of 545 km between Nagda and Mathura, with an investment of ₹2,665.14 crore. This system provides an essential safety layer to the current railway operations, significantly reducing the risk of accidents due to human error in signal observation.
