Attendees of this month’s AgingWell will hear from Cheryl Bushnell, MD, Professor of Neurology, Wake Forest University School of Medicine on the warning signs of a stroke, what you should do, and the urgency to act if someone is showing signs of a stroke, as well as the steps that everyone can take to not only live a healthy life but also lower your risk for ever having a stroke.

Well, you and your guests will be anything but bored when you serve this delicious dish created by Chef Jeff Bacon, Vice President of Second Harvest Food Bank and Executive director of the Providence Programs. Chef Bacon will demonstrate how to create one of his signature dishes, Baked Halibut with Spinach, Feta, and Pine Nuts. This dish takes advantage of the Summer’s fresh herbs that are easily found, either in your home garden or in local grocery stores. And since Chef Bacon was voted “Best Chef” in Winston-Salem in the 2025 Readers’ Choice Awards, you know this dish will be delicious!

Did you know that there is a world-class art museum just down the road from Winston-Salem in the town of Salisbury? The Waterworks Visual Arts Center is a nationally accredited art museum that was founded in 1959 as the Rowan Arts Guild. Join Executive Director, Anne Scott Clement, as she gives us a tour of their current exhibitions: the Collection of Julian and Josie Robertson that feature works by Chagall, Picasso, and Monet to name a few. Bostian Alley 1937 includes an array of black and white photographs that offer insight into Salisbury’s history, and the Remembering Bostian Alley exhibit features paintings by Maria Bennett Hock inspired by the black & white images.
