NATIONAL HIGHWAY-29 TURNS INTO DANGER ZONE AFTER RAINS

Concern and worry have gripped commuters along the Dimapur-Kohima National Highway-29 with a surge of artificial waterfalls emerging from the road shoulders above the highway between New Chumoukedima and Jharnapani. The fear is that the waters could destabilize the soil and rock formations, endangering life and property. Earlier on Friday, July 5, some portions of the soil flanking the highway disintegrated amid heavy rains, sending rocks hurling down onto the road.
