'I Wish You Well' - A Love Letter

Letter Text:
We always knew this would happen. Neither of us expected to come this far from where we started but my god, this has been the best time of my life. Every day you gave me something to look forward to and you taught me how to love. But we knew it couldn’t last. It was always a relationship with an expiry date. We just tried to ignore it. And now that it’s over part of me wishes we never got together in the first place. So I wouldn’t have to feel like this. So I wouldn’t have to look back on all those memories with pain, knowing we’ll never create more. I want to say that maybe we can stay friends, - keep in touch. But I don’t think I could. I couldn’t watch you slowly create a life with someone else wondering if you’d be just as happy if that someone was me. I want you to be happy but seeing you live your dream life with someone else would break me. And now it all hurts. Not because it ended badly but because I can’t stop thinking about everything we used to have. I can’t stop thinking of the life we could have had and growing old with you and ticking off all the experiences of life with you. I could go on about the future we’ll never have but it won’t change anything. So I wish you the best. I hope you can move on from this better than me and you find someone you can be happy with. And maybe one day in the future when we’ve both moved on and are with different partners; we’ll walk past eachother on the street and smile, knowing the other person is in good hands. And smile in remembrance of that part of our life we shared, knowing we gave it everything we had while we had it while we had it. I’ll always love you. Thank you for everything.
