Freak storm in Lacey, Washington State

It started as a beautiful sky and a low key storm, then things quickly escalated into a freak storm. Hail, trees down and it even made a lake in the parking lot!

The lights in the building had been flickering, and it wasn't so bad at first, but the flickering got worse. I could feel my seat shake from time to time from the thunder outside, with It's low, rolling rumble. I took my headphones off and decided to step outside and see what all the fuss was about. The sky was full of beautiful colors; the clouds taking shapes like waves on a sea. The air was thick with the sweet taste of rain and cedar trees. The delicious aromas filled my lungs with each long, deep breath. The experience was enjoyable, and I wanted to share it with the office. I knew my office mates were busy so I decided to take a short video to show them later, but things started to change, and quickly too. The deep bluish-turquoise in the clouds turned grey, and the beautiful colors of the sky disappeared as wisps of rain turned into thick sheets of water. I tried to call for my office mates to come and see what I was seeing; the camera kept rolling, taking in the spectacle. The wind picked up, and the deafening sound of hail hitting the metal roof, and cars filled my ears. The high winds blew the rain sideways, small tree branches and leaves littered the ground. Suddenly, our building and surrounding offices lost power. The wind was gusting, large drops of rain slapped the ground, and the parking lot drain was overwhelmed with water. Without power, a coworker joined me in the doorway of the building. We heard a sharp crack as a tree gave under the pressure of the strong wind gusts; barely missing a truck sitting in the parking space right next to it. A minute later, the storm lost its power and slowly subsided. There was so much rain, the main roads had collected a foot and a half of water or more. Traffic slowed down and emergency vehicles could be heard in the distance. I stopped the recording and we closed the office early.
