Stem removal on Seiko 4R35 (NH35) & 4R36 (NH36) watch movements in easy steps:

1. If your watch as a screw-down crown, unscrew it.
2. Do not pull the crown out to the first or second click.
3. Use something with a fine point to push on the stem release dimple.
4. While pushing on the dimple (not too hard), gently pull the stem out.

To replace the stem, you don't need to press the dimple again. Just gently push in the crown and stem, maybe wiggling it carefully.
