In Bengal, one such chilling local legend speaks of Azimunnisa Begum, wife of Shujauddin Muhammad Khan, the second Nawab of Bengal.

It is said that Azimunnisa Begum suffered from a mysterious illness, and superstition drove her to commit unspeakable acts—consuming the liver of children in the belief that it would cure her and her illness was mysteriously cured by this. According to local lore, she was buried alive, and her grave came to be known as “Zinda Kabra” — the Living Grave.
