These are three of the best microphones you can get, all WELL under the $1000 mark! The Vanguard Audio Labs V4 GEN 2 is low noice, open in the high end with a nice character. The Chandler TG Type L is mellow on top and offers System A and B to go from classic TG style harmonic saturation, to high headroom smoothness that claims a "ribbon" like quality. The Soyuz 1973 oozes character with a strong mid range focus and the ability to tame harsher sources and push things through a busy mix.
