Hi, I’m Dr Jay Anam, a breast cancer surgeon based in Mumbai.
In this video, I’m answering some of the most common questions I get from my patients and viewers like what the survival rate of triple negative breast cancer really means, whether it’s curable, and if you need a PET scan after completing treatment.

Triple Negative Breast Cancer का Survival Rate क्या है? | Breast Cancer Q&A | SSO Hospital, Mumbai
What is the survival rate of triple negative breast cancer?
If the tumor is 2.2 cm and hasn’t spread much, the cancer is considered curable. In such cases, the survival rate becomes less relevant compared to the overall outcome. The most important thing for the patient is to know that the cancer can be treated effectively.
Is triple negative breast cancer curable?
Yes, when diagnosed early and not in Stage 4, triple negative breast cancer is curable. A tumor size of 2.2 cm indicates that the disease is still in a treatable stage. The key is to follow the doctor’s treatment plan without delay or doubt.
Should you worry if you have triple negative breast cancer?
If the cancer is not Stage 4, there is no need to panic. Early-stage triple negative breast cancer can be managed well with proper medical care. The focus should be on treatment rather than fear of the disease.
Is PET scan necessary after Stage 2B breast cancer treatment?
No, if the treatment is completed and there are no new symptoms, a PET scan is not required after just one month. PET scans are recommended only when there are signs that the cancer may have returned. Unnecessary scans should be avoided unless the doctor advises otherwise.
When is PET scan recommended post breast cancer treatment?
PET scans are only advised if there are clear symptoms of recurrence. If the patient is symptom-free and treatment is complete, there is no medical need for a scan. Imaging is reserved for cases where clinical suspicion arises.
What to do after completing Stage 2B breast cancer treatment?
Once treatment is finished, patients should continue with routine follow-ups. No imaging is needed unless symptoms appear. Staying in touch with your doctor and reporting any changes is more important than undergoing unnecessary scans.
Can breast cancer come back after treatment?
Yes, there is always a possibility of recurrence, but not all patients experience it. Doctors monitor for specific signs before recommending further investigations. Without symptoms, routine PET scans are not part of the protocol.
