Opterra 2m launch dolly upgrade, plus I put in a standard RX so I can fly the way I like.

* UPDATE I decided to make a major change, put 2 ducted fans on it, then put retracts on it. Here is the link to my mods.    • 2nd Flight Attempt of the Twin EDF Op...   As I said before, SAFE, AS3x, Auto Pilot, or whatever a person calls it, is still a flight stabilization system to assist people who don't know how to fly, or to help a person fly better.
I have been flying for over 60 years and have learned to fly fairly smooth, no matter how the wind blows and never needed this type of setup in any of my nitro flying wings, jets, helicopters, or airplanes.
I made several videos previously on this Opterra and those who subscribe already know I thoroughly explained this SAFE/AS3Xsystem and demonstrated it, then.
I have read the Opterra 2m plug and play manual over and over and no where does it say how to de-program this receiver. It does say it is programmed specifically for this Opterra 2m. It did not come with a manual specifically for the receiver.
The manual I DID get with it tells how to set up a transmitter with switch A set to either turn on or turn off the SAFE system, which mine does.....till I throttle down the motor.
It also says if the TX is shut off or fly's out of range, SAFE will turn on.

I typically never shut the TX off in flight (except when I tested the fail safe on the first DJI Phantom Product review I made years ago) and never have flown out of range. But as I demonstrated, when the throttle is brought down, the brake activates and SAFE automatically turns on.
Flipping Switch A does not shut it off.
The battery must be disconnected to turn it off. And for that reason, if I glide it by with the Motor off, then power it back up, it turns SAFE on and why I changed the RX. I would rather be in control all the time and not have to mess with this.
So trying to convince me to keep using this RX is futile. I am very happy flying it the way I set it up with a simple standard RX.
I might note, the manual tells that I can change to any 6 channel receiver if I want to.

Several of my flying buddies with Opterra 2m's have also changed out their RX, for we don't need stabilization. I might also add that the servo travel is quite a bit more with a standard receiver and we find we actually have more control because of that.
And I also upgraded my launch dolly to be wider and more stable and makes this a much more pleasant and easy plane to fly without worry. Thanks for watching and God Bless.
