When the shad start feeding on the mullet, spinning is fun at night. This was a difficult session as the Umgeni river was draining from the outgoing tide, lots of hyacinth and debris coming down as well as a very strong current. That made fighting and landing fish in this water quite challenging, especially on light tackle. I hooked, four, landed two. The first 2 shad were just too strong and big for my tackle and eventually the braid parted. Both those fish were at least 70/75 cm plus. Tackle used: Okuma Matrix 10ft with Okuma Azores XP 4000, 20lbs Boss Braid HP, 25lbs Elbe Fluorocarbon leader and Linx quick change clips. The lure of choice was the Noeby Bullet (80mm) in pink and silver.
