Life Sciences : Transforming San Diego and The World

A few powerful trends promise to reshape medicine and healthcare in the coming decade. The first is the ability to collect deep multiomic (genomic, proteomics and metabolomic) data at scale from patient samples. Coupled with increasing access to electronic medical records and the increasing power of big data analysis, this multiomic big data is paving the way for faster discovery of new drugs and potentially a faster, less risky and more cost effective drug development process. Also, new technologies like CRISPR and Gene Therapy are allowing for novel tailored cures for diseases deemed untreatable even a few years ago. Of course, all of these require ever more effective measures to protect company and patient data.
