ANAGUTA TRADITIONAL DANCERS II

The Anaguta people are an indigenous ethnic group in Jos, Plateau State, Nigeria. They are predominantly found in the Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State, with some communities extending into neighbouring areas.
The history of the Anaguta people traces back many centuries, with oral traditions suggesting that they migrated to the Jos Plateau region from the northeast thousands of years ago, possibly from present-day Bauchi State. Over time, they settled and established communities on the Jos Plateau, where they primarily engaged in agriculture, particularly farming and animal husbandry.
The Anaguta are known for their rich cultural heritage, which includes vibrant traditional festivals, music, dance, and craftsmanship. They have a unique social structure based on age grades, with each grade having specific community roles and responsibilities. They have maintained a strong sense of identity and cultural pride, preserving their traditions and customs through generations.
Today, the Anaguta people continue to play an important role in the socio-economic and cultural life of Plateau State.
