We are excited to announce that FIGMENT 2022 will be held at Snug Harbor, a cultural center on Staten Island that supports many types of art and culture on its beautiful grounds and in its historic buildings. Snug Harbor is a 5-minute bus ride or 10-minute bike ride, from the Staten Island Ferry. The center already has a vibrant arts community and we are excited to join them!

Where: Snug Harbor Cultural Center, 1000 Richmond Terrace, Staten Island, NY 10301

What: FIGMENT NYC 2022, an interactive-arts festival that is free and open to the public.

FIGMENT is a free event that celebrates the creation and display of participatory and interactive art by emerging artists across disciplines. For one weekend only, we are partnering with Snug Harbor, to host an event where nothing is for sale and everyone is invited to create and connect.

What to Bring

FIGMENT offers an alternative to the traditional art scene in New York, using interaction and collaboration as tools for exploring creativity, and being completely free and open to the public.

There are shops and restaurants on Staten Island if you want to explore beyond Snug Harbor.

FIGMENT is a Sustainable Event. We encourage you to bring anything that you might need for the day.

Drinking water: Bring your own reusable drinking vessel.

Picnic food and snacks to eat and share

Sun protection: Sunscreen, a floppy hat or parasol, and sunglasses

Toys: Sidewalk chalk, kites, hula hoops, croquet sets, water guns… anything that you want to play with or invite others to join you in!

Any necessary medications

Costumes: FIGMENT is the perfect time to play make-believe (for both kids & adults!)

Bicycle, skates or skate board: Snug Harbor is about 2 miles from the Staten Island Ferry. It is walkable but wheels make it easy to get around!

-Dogs are allowed and Snug Harbor follows the same rules as other NYC parks. For more information please visit here for more guidelines on dogs in NYC parks.

HOW TO GET THERE

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION:

Take subway to lower Manhattan, via the 1 train to South Ferry or the 4/5 train to Bowling Green or the R train to Whitehall. Exit and walk south to blue neon Staten Island terminal to take FREE ferry. After landing in Staten Island take the S40 bus at Gate D to travel along Richmond Terrace, less than a 10-minute ride. Let the bus driver know that you want to get off at Snug Harbor.
