The latest craze sweeping beauty salons across the globe is semi-permanent foundation, also known as BB glow.

Originating from South Korea, BB Glow involves using microneedling to infuse light-reflecting pigments beneath the skin, aiming to provide a semi-permanent foundation-like effect.

Now the treatment has gone viral and is being offered at salons all over the world, with some bold beauty lovers also attempting to DIY the glow at home.

The science behind it is also very limited, as TikTok dermatologist, Dr Dray, explains:

“It’s not well studied, it’s not well regulated and there are a variety of potentially concerning effects you might encounter when pursuing this. You can develop pretty extensive hyperpigmentation and of course there is a risk of infection with the microneedling procedure as well.”

Semi-permanent foundation is just the beginning, with a whole range of face tattoo beauty treatments now being offered.
