Kaye E Barker – Built in 1952 by American Shipbuilding Co, Lorain, OH. Lengthened 120’ at Frazier Shipyards, Superior, WI in 1976. Converted to a self-unloader in 1981.
By American Shipbuilding Co., Lorain, OH and repowered in 2012. She’s 767’ in length, 70’ in beam and has a capacity of 25,900 tons.
She’s now powered by twin Rolls-Royce Bergen – B32:40L6P Diesels at 8160 bhp each. They turn a single changeable pitch propeller.
