Gonda Jn. is a situated on the Gorakhpur - Lucknow line and serves as a Junction for lines from 4 directions- Gorakhpur, Lucknow, Barhni and Bahraich/Mailani. The first diesel shed of North Eastern Railways is also situated here. Gonda Jn. also boasts of the biggest freight yard of North Eastern Railways. Gonda Jn was a big metre gauge terminus and had bulk of metre gauge coaches and wagons. The line towards Barhni, which passed through the marshalling yard, was closed in 2015, and the last remaining MG connection towards Bahraich was closed on 30th June 2016. Gonda Jn. had 3 BG and 4 MG platforms. The metre gauge coverage of Gonda Jn was very vast. There were double the metre gauge lines than broad gauge. I have so many fond memories from this place since my childhood. So I decided to make a video on the metre gauge beauty of this place - a slide show of all the beautiful pics taken by me at Gonda! A special thanks to Dhirendra Maurya for allowing me to use his photographs in my slide show. Without his pictures, this slideshow would have been incomplete.
