Flash Flood and Hail Storm.The Lurking Beast. Tarago, New South Wales, Australia, November 2007

The day started rather ordinary with low dew-points. Some high based storms developed late afternoon between the towns of Tarago and Braidwood on the Southern Tablelands of New South Wales. These provided some nice lightning. The trough that I was targeting retrograded backwards to the south, this allowed more humid air from NE to advert into the area. A beast emerged from the gloom, a possible supercell. This storm moved very slowly impacting a small area with flash flooding rain and copious hail. Daylight went to a dusky gloom as I drove into the core. Later local media reported that a farmer lost 50 sheep due to flash flooding.
