Behold: The McLaren F1 Longtail-Inspired 'P1 GT' fuji circuit white

The Elva pushes our daring design language forward. And proudly embraces the principles set down by Bruce McLaren’s original race conquering open top sports cars of the 1960s – the M1A, M1B and M1C. Just like our latest Ultimate Series, the original road-going ‘Elvas’ were lightweight, open-roofed, mid-engined… and single-mindedly created to deliver a driving experience of exhilarating purity.

In our new Elva, form follows function more closely than ever. Clean, fluid lines and bold shapes flow together and blur the boundaries between inside and out. Cohesive design that makes a perfectly balanced whole.

To make sure you get maximum enjoyment from the elements, the Elva has a pioneering active air management system [AAMS]. It works by guiding high speed air over the open cabin, creating calm around driver and passenger. It means you get the full adrenaline rush, undistracted.

Pared back, honed and highly advanced, the Elva is the lightest road car that McLaren Automotive have ever made. The results are felt in a heartbeat. Agility, telepathic responses and raw performance delivered with unique poise. Nothing connects you so completely to the drive. In every sense. matte blue real first

It’s been quite a day for rich people toys, hasn’t it? The day kicked off with the outrageous one-off Aston Martin V8 Cygnet, which was closely followed by the exquisite Singer ‘DLS’ 964. And now there’s something just as hellishly expensive (we assume), but completely different: the McLaren P1 GT.

Reportedly built for an exceptionally wealthy Middle Eastern client, this McLaren F1 GT Longtail-inspired beast is the work of Lanzante. The specialist company made headlines not so long ago for road-converting several examples of the P1 GTR, but the firm’s latest work is on another level entirely.

All the details are there. We have the roof scoop, the lengthened rear bodywork and a rear wing that’s noticeably larger than the already giant aero piece on the standard GTR. The splitter is longer and at the back there’s a new diffuser, completed by a rather naughty quad exhaust. It’s even finished in a similar shade of green on the original. We approve.

Technical details haven’t yet been divulged, so we don’t know whether or not the hybrid-boosted 3.8-litre power plant has been left alone. If it has, it’s not a huge deal: it is good for 986bhp in stock trim, after all.

With the new aero package, the GT should be a reasonable amount quicker on track then the ‘regular’ P1 GTR. You might remember Lanzante drove one of its road-converted cars over the Nurburgring, set a blistering 6min 43.2sec lap and then drove home again, so who knows - perhaps a follow-up is in order.

Come on Lanzante, you know you want to…
