What Is Wrong With The Chimney?
When a chimney does not draft properly the smoke will back up into the house. We has smoke leaking out of the seams in our stovepipe and the house was filled with smoke. I finally found the problem when I went onto the roof and inspected the chimney cap, it was completely clogged with creosote!
After cleaning the chimney cap and allowing the system to breath properly, the wood stove runs perfectly!
Make sure you inspect your chimney cap in between your annual chimney sweep. This creosote buildup not only causes smoke to come back into the house through the wood stove and stove pipe, but it is what can cause a chimney fire also
