On World LEGO® Day, K Street Magazine was delighted to experience the new @artofthebrickexpo experience — officially opening in DC on Jan. 30th at the Rhode Island Center.

LEGO lovers (and art and EFFORT enthusiasts) young and old(er) will be stunned by what creative Nathan Sawaya has built — 70 stunning sculptures crafted from more than one million LEGO® bricks.

Think of it as an art gallery of LEGO® works and sculptures. Room after room has reimagined masterpieces of famous art recreated in plastic brick, like Michelangelo’s David, Van Gogh’s Starry Night, and Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa.

But then there’s 20-foot T-Rex skeleton, a whole plastic zoo of remarkably built animals, and many introspective pieces from Sawaya that are equally impressive.

Have you built with LEGOs lately? There’s also an interactive LEGO® creation area so you sculpt something yourself!
