Chasing Waves On The West Coast V1.0 (4K)

In September and October 2024, we travelled between Praia Grande and Porto.
On the hunt for waves with the bodyboard and the drone, there were pretty much all the waves there are. We took advantage of the days without waves to take a trip north to Porto.
On the morning of 30 September, the swell from ex-hurricane Kirk finally arrived. We were out in São Pedro De Moel with the drone at sunrise.
Large clean lines of 3 to 4 metres ran in, which then broke.
On the way back to Baleal (after days without waves I naturally wanted to get back as quickly as possible to surf in Baleal) we unfortunately didn't drive the few kilometres to the beach at Praia da Norte in Nazaré. The pros really had fun there and surfed some excellent tubes
From then on, there were beautiful waves on the Portuguese west coast, mostly with offshore winds until 8 October.
I have captured the impressions of this trip in the following film.
I have published some episodes in advance. You can see the waves from 7 October in the film ‘Waves Of Baleal 3.0’.

The storm reached its peak on 9 October. Gale-force winds and waves of 7 metres were forecast.
We drove to Lisbon in this strong wind and rain because our holiday was over and the flights were booked.

Despite very strong winds with super strong gusts, we were able to take off by plane.
I also captured this in a separate film (TAP Air Portugal Airbus A320 Turbulent Take Off From Lisbon To Berlin (4K)). You can see very clearly that the entire coastline is coloured white by huge breaking waves. This was still visible even from 80 km and 1000 metres above sea level.
Surfing was out of the question that day. Of course, I would have loved to see this spectacle up close.
