The idea of contemporary India, whether agreed or disagreed with, we owe in great measure to a towering figure of the 20th century - Nehru. As a flame of the nationalist and anti-imperial struggle, a visionary of democratic socialism and secularism, and India’s first and longest-serving prime minister, Nehru is inextricable from the discourse surrounding modern India. Nehru debated some of the most pertinent and profound questions of modern history, and is himself one embodied. In life and the afterlife, is Nehru the greatest prime minister of India?
