James Ensor was een Belgische schilder (1860 - 1949) en bekend om zijn schilderijen met maskers en expressionistische werken. Zijn schilderijen omvatten vaak groteske maskers en karikaturen, waarmee hij sociale en politieke commentaren uitdrukte.

Bianca Pauline, als photographic artist, masker maker en videograaf, deelt een vergelijkbare fascinatie voor maskers en brengt Ensors werk op een eigentijdse manier tot leven. Door haar lens en creatieve interpretatie geeft ze Ensors thema's een hedendaagse relevantie, waardoor de maskers en personages in een nieuwe context worden geplaatst. Beiden met een liefde voor maskers houden ze ons zo een spiegel voor. Zij het via schilderkunst of fotokunst en video art. De brug die Bianca Pauline slaat tussen het verleden van Ensor en het heden voegt een intrigerende laag toe aan de artistieke dialoog over identiteit en sociale kwesties.

James Ensor was a Belgian painter (1860 - 1949) and known for his paintings with masks and expressionist works. His paintings often included grotesque masks and caricatures, through which he expressed social and political commentaries.

Bianca Pauline, as a photographic artist, mask maker and videographer, shares a similar fascination with masks and brings Ensor's work to life in a contemporary way. Through her lens and creative interpretation, she gives Ensor's themes a contemporary relevance, placing the masks and characters in a new context. Both with a love of masks, they thus hold up a mirror to us. Be it through painting or photo art and video art, Bianca Pauline's bridge between Ensor's past and the present adds an intriguing layer to the artistic dialogue on identity and social issues.

With her bizarre and imaginative Photo Art, Bianca Pauline makes a non-existent dream world come to life. Her unique masks are handmade, using herself as an art object. All made from discarded materials and homemade costumes and vintage clothing. The images are closely intertwined with childhood memories and personal experiences. The characters reflect the inner world of herself with which she conveys her statement: "It doesn't matter what you look like, it's about the inside of mankind".
