The Chypre olfactory family, established with Chypre by Coty in 1917, draws its origins from the Middle Ages with the "birds of Cyprus », scented balls crafted in bird shapes, or perhaps from the island of Cyprus itself. This iconic family later inspired creations like Mitsouko by Guerlain and Coriandre by Jean Couturier, shaping modern perfumery.

The chypre family is a complex one. Unlike the oriental family, which often features vanilla as a base, chypre fragrances are crafted with a bright citrus head (like bergamot), a floral heart (rose), and an earthy oakmoss base, balanced with patchouli and musk. This fragrance embodies the chypre family: notes of moss, woods, and a hint of citrus harmonize with rose and patchouli.
