Lake Geneva waterfront is only about 8 to 10 minutes walk from the Geneva Cornavin station. Just opposite the promenade, the Jardin des Alpes garden and the Square des Alpes with the Brunswick Monument offer plenty of space to relax in this beautiful place.

Brunswick Monument was built in 1879 in memory of the life of Charles II, Duke of Brunswick (1804–1873). He left his entire fortune for the city of Geneva with the condition that a mausoleum be built for him in the city.

The promenade is a wide area offering a great view of the Jet d'Eau, the iconic water fountain of Geneva. Water exits at a velocity of 200 kph and reaches a maximum height of 140m. The snow-capped Alpine peaks in the distance provide a spectacular backdrop against the blue lake and the cityscape. Taking a cruise on the lake is a great way to explore the area.

Jet d’Eau was first installed in 1886 when it was meant to be a safety valve for a hydraulic power network and could reach a height of about 30 metres. The present one was installed in 1951 and operates during the day all year round and also in the evenings from spring to autumn, lit by a set of 21 lights.

Trains between Geneva and Montreux take about 1 hour 10 minutes and run along the north shore of Lake Geneva. This journey is a great way to travel the breadth of this lake and appreciate its expanse.
