Pregnancy Test Strip


This test helps find out if someone is pregnant by checking hCG hormone in urine.

What the Test Is For:

This strip is used to check for early pregnancy using a urine sample.

How Pregnancy Hormone Works:

When a woman becomes pregnant, the body starts making hCG hormone.

hCG appears in urine 7–10 days after pregnancy starts.

It increases quickly and becomes very high by 10–12 weeks of pregnancy.

If hCG is present, the test will show a positive result.

The test can detect 25 mIU/ml or more of hCG.

⚙️ How the Test Works:

Dip the strip in urine.

If hCG is present, two lines will appear, Pregnant.

If not pregnant, only one line (Control) appears.

If no control line, the test didn’t work.

Expected Results:

Non-pregnant women: No hCG in urine

Pregnant women: hCG present, increasing with time

Test can detect pregnancy 1 day after missed period

Procedure:

Collect urine in a clean, dry container.

Best sample: first-morning urine (strongest).

1st urine of morning is preferred.

Cloudy urine should be cleared (filter/settle/centrifuge).

Allow the test strip, urine sample, and controls to reach room temperature (15–30°C).

Open the pouch and remove the test strip.

Use the strip immediately after opening.

Dip the Strip into Urine.

Dip the strip vertically into the urine for 10–15 seconds.

Do not dip above the MAX line labeled on the strip.

(Only immerse up to the MAX line, not beyond it.)

Place the strip on a clean, flat, non-absorbent surface.

Start a timer.

Wait for 3 minutes to read the result.

Do not read the test after 10 minutes — results after 10 minutes are invalid.


-Even a faint test line = positive


-If the hormone level (hCG) is very low, a faint line may appear later.

Test Lines

Each strip has:

C (Control Line) Shows test worked properly.

T (Test Line) Shows the presence of pregnancy hormone (hCG).

MAX Line Maximum dipping limit.

Result

Positive (Pregnant)

Two red lines appear:

-One line appears at C (Control line)

-One line at T (Test line)


-Even if the T line is light, the result is positive.


Negative (Not Pregnant)

-One red line appears at C (Control line).

-No line appears at T (Test line).


Invalid (Test Failed – Repeat Test)

-If no C line appears, but T line appears, test is wrong.
-If no C line appears, T line also not appear, then test is also wrong.

-C line appearance is compulsory for Correct Test.

-This means the test did not run correctly.

-Use a new strip and repeat the test.

Contraindications:

hCG elevation can occur in trophoblastic disease, testicular tumors, prostate cancer, breast cancer, lung cancer.

What Is Inside (Reagents)

A test strip that has special chemicals to detect hCG.

Test strip contains anti-hCG particles and anti-hCG coated membrane.

Tells yes / no only (not how many weeks pregnant)

Weak positive → test again in 48 hours with morning urine

Very early pregnancy can show weak line

Things That Do Not Affect Test:

-Following Substances tested, no effect on results and no interference observed :

Acetaminophen
Acetylsalicylic Acid
Ascorbic Acid
Atropine
Caffeine
Gentisic Acid
Glucose
Hemoglobin
Bilirubin

-No interference from hormones like LH, FSH,
TSH.

Quality Control

Internal control line (C) verifies specimen volume & technique

Recommended controls:

Positive control: 25–250 mIU/ml hCG

Negative control: 0 mIU/ml hCG

Doctor should confirm pregnancy.

Only for professional use.

Do not use after expiry.

Keep sealed until you use it.

Handle urine like any other body fluid.

Throw strip in proper waste container.
