STORYLINE:
There were still some protesters camping out in the centre of Cairo on Sunday morning, but life in Cairo appeared to be largely returning to normal, as Egyptians ushered in a second day in nearly 30 years without Hosni Mubarak as their ruler.
Anti-Mubarak protesters, still celebrating their victory in pushing Mubarak out, now pressed for a voice in guiding their country's move to democracy.
The square remained lively on Sunday with many families arriving to join in celebrations, as protest organisers debated whether to lift their 24-hour-a-day demonstration camp.
The tent city set up to accommodate them remained largely in place.
The military has called on protesters to return home, but some of the demonstrators are refusing to clear out.
Minor scuffles between protesters and the army broke out on Sunday morning as the army re-opened the square, but no injuries or violence were reported.
The coalition of youth groups that organised the protests called for an end to demonstration and for it to be replaced by weekly mass demonstrations every Friday to keep pressure on.
But some remained determined not to leave until all demands were met.
"We will not move until all our demands are fulfilled," read one placard.
A number of protesters moved to clean up the litter and debris from the sprawling plaza that was battered and rubbish strewn after 18 days of street battles and rallies.
