Our Beautiful Area: Mevagissey and Gorran Haven

In South Cornwall, United Kingdom, the coastal area in and around Gorran Haven and Mevagissey is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty and beaches. The South West Coast Path is nearby providing miles of spectacular cliff-top walks.

Mevagissey is an historic working fishing village with a good range of amenities including a Post Office, chemist, bakers, numerous galleries, stores and gift shops, cafes, pubs, and restaurants, Doctor’s surgery, school and a bus service to the nearby market town of St Austell where there is a wide range of businesses, educational and shopping facilities, plus a main-line station. There are many country walks in the vicinity, together with spectacular coastal walks. The Mevagissey Bay area has a wide range of marine activities with many beautiful beaches. The famous Lost Gardens of Heligan are approximately 2 miles away and the incredible Eden Project is about 10 miles.

Travelling past the beach at Portmellon and heading about 2.5 miles in a southerly direction from Mevagissey is Gorran Haven which has a very picturesque harbour and two lovely sandy beaches. The village itself has amenities catering for everyday needs including mini-market/newsagent/post office, restaurant and there are two pubs within a short distance. The nearby Gorran Churchtown has a well reputed primary school (OFSTED-rated “Outstanding”) and Gorran Haven itself is within the catchment of the “Outstanding” Roseland Acadamy Secondary School at the nearby village of Tregony.
