After a lot of failed prototypes (some of which took a journey across the room), I present to you my Lego Magician Automaton.
Unlike the popular rotating cube design from TonyFlow76 which was used by Daniele Benedettelli and Taylor Heanue (Automatown) for their automata (links below), I used a rotating carousel where the different objects are mounted. This design is similar to the mechanisms in the actual antique automatons.
It also takes up less space and the mechanism controlling the carousel is not in the table itself. This enabled me to shrink the table size to just 8x12 studs.
