How to eat Hairy Crabs

Hairy Crabs are something I look forward to every year! 🤪 I never order them at restaurants because I feel the real experience comes from eating it at home. Besides they are so easy to steam and it’s much cheaper to buy them from supplier than eating in at resturants. You just need to know where to buy them!
Todays crabs were 5.5-6 Tael Hairy Crabs ❤️

We measure the weight of Hairy Crabs by Taels. Taels (兩) is one of several weight measures. 1 tael is around 37.5 grams!

So how long to steam your hairy crab? Well here is a chart based on my own experience but every steamer is different. I use a Stainless Steel Steamer Pot.

🦀5-6 Tael : 10-12 mins
🦀7-8 Tael : 13-15 mins
🦀9-11 Tael: 15-18 mins

Hairy Crabs are steamed tied up so their legs don’t fall off during the cooking process. You can place the shiso leaves under or on top of the crabs when you steam them. You can use dried Shiso leaves or Fresh! 🤓💕
