Chibcha Juggling Proyect from Colombia |IJA Tricks of the Month

Hello. We are Chibcha Juggling Project, a group of jugglers, creators and friends who along our paths, have consolidated our love for playing, manipulating objects and researching, as well as making audiovisual pieces. The toy we call Chibcha summoned us on this occasion, to put different techniques and disciplines to dialogue. We reside in Bogotá -Colombia, a country with incredible mountains, magical spaces and a wide and rich culture.

Chibcha Juggling Project, is an interdisciplinary project focused on the development of juggling, research and pedagogy. We use the "Chibchacun" - staff or baton in Muysccubun language (native language of these ancient mountains); as an element of resilience and catharsis to focus all previous capacities and allocate them to scenic creation and juggling research. The collective is composed of a team of circus artists, audiovisual creators, graphics and friends, who appropriate Chibcha as a place of active memory and seek to create a language of manipulation and Colombian juggling. Its projection covers constant audiovisual creation and pedagogical training from sharing, playing with the realities of the territory in order to put the eye on Colombia, in the Chibcha "-Person- in Muysccubun."

In the making of the video we had great friends and jugglers: Santiago Durango, Mateo Lasso, Nicolas Jaramillo, Cesar Espinosa, Daniel Valderrama and Sergio Carreño were the ones who dedicated their time and research to capture tricks and variations. For his part, Diego Valderrama, a lover of the audiovisual and his mixture with juggling put in the lens these tricks, the scene and the edition so that dynamism and color were protagonists. In addition to this, the team of Bateria Prendida, collective in charge of musicalizing and giving sound essence to the video. Marco Parra, musician and percussionist has made the pre-production, Daniel Galvis included the guitar and finally Oscar Castro was in charge of the mix you hear in the video. The filming of the video took place at Baca Teatro, a scenic and cultural space located in the city of Chía-Colombia.

Without a doubt, making this video was very exciting and fun for us; We planned every trick and picture. We thank all those who have believed, shared, played and researched with us, it is a path full of learning, possibilities and variations. Hola Somos Chibcha Juggling Project, un grupo de malabaristas, creadores y amigos que a lo largo de nuestros caminos, hemos consolidado nuestro amor por jugar, manipular objetos e investigar, así como hacer piezas audiovisuales. el juguete que llamamos chibcha nos convocó en esta oportunidad, para poner diferentes técnicas y disciplinas a dialogar. Residimos en Bogotá -Colombia, país con increíbles montañas, mágicos espacios y una amplia y rica cultura.

Chibcha Juggling Project, es un proyecto interdisciplinar enfocado en el desarrollo del malabarismo, la investigación y la pedagogía. Usamos el “Chibchacun” - báculo o bastón en idioma Muysccubun (lengua nativa de estas antiguas montañas); como elemento de resiliencia y catarsis para enfocar todas las capacidades previas y destinarlas a la creación escénica e investigación malabaristica. El colectivo está compuesto por un equipo de artistas circenses, creadores audiovisuales, gráficos y amigos, que apropian al Chibcha como un lugar de memoria activa y buscan crear un lenguaje de manipulación y malabarismo colombiano. Su proyección abarca la creación audiovisual constante y la formación pedagógica desde el compartir, jugando con las realidades del territorio para así poner el ojo en Colombia, en el Chibcha “-Persona- en Muysccubun”.

“De la mano del bastón, como los más altos de la manada, nos dirigimos a buscar nuestro bastón de mando. Un rumbo. Y es que si hablamos de leyes, estamos a favor de quien crea en lo inmortal. Chibchas amantes de lo Total y verdugos del ahora…”
