Today I use my background in urban planning to discuss the concept of third places in Nairobi, Kenya, explaining the concept also through examples from my hometown Helsinki, Finland. Third places are those spaces that are neither home nor work, and different cities differ in their capability to offer such spaces to provide cost accessible spaces where different people can find freedom and fun and build communities.
