The sub-section(8A) to section139 of the Income-tax Act (Section 139(8A), inserted by the Finance Act,2022 provides an opportunity to a person, who has either not filled income-tax return or has filed the return but under-reported income to file an updated return of income, within 2 years from the end of the relevant assessment year, subject to fulfilment of conditions prescribed under section 139(8A) and payment of additional tax.

The Income-tax Department has enabled excel utility for filing updated return in respect of Form No. ITR-1 to ITR-7 on its website " eportal.incometax.gov.in" in "downloads" for the assessment year 2020-21 and 2021-22. This video is to create awareness of availability of utility for filing updated return of income.
