WCAL Championship: Mitty VS SHC, Ben Kone

GetSportsFocus.com - Tim Kennedy's Mitty program has not lost to Sacred Heart Cathedral since February 9th, 2009. With a 61-56 win over the Fighting Irish, the win-streak extended to 13 for Archbishop Mitty. This was not an easy task as the game went down to the last minute.

Sacred Heart Cathedral's team was impressive, showing fight all the way through the fourth quarter. David Parsons had a game-high 20 points and was physical to the hoop while Liam O'Reilly added 17 points. The Fighting Irish led throughout the first two quarters before going into the half down 28-27.

Tied at 56 with under 52 seconds to play, Matt McAndrews glided down the lane and gracefully finished a lay-up that seemed like the perfect way to take the final lead over SHC. McAndrews would knock down two more free throws to make it a two score game and there wasn't enough time for the Irish. Sophomore Ben Kone led the Monarchs with 17 points and was effective in the paint early in the contest.

Mitty should enter the CCS playoffs with a No. 1 seed as brackets are being determined.
