Noisy Drive Belt on Acura TSX - Easy Troubleshooting & Replacement

Описание к видео Noisy Drive Belt on Acura TSX - Easy Troubleshooting & Replacement

I recently had some noise coming from the serpentine belt and I did some troubleshooting to fix the problem. I don't recommend to install aftermarket pulleys unless you know both the pros and the cons of installing them.

Bando is the manufacturer of the OEM belt, but I used Dayco which is a good brand too. The OEM serpentine belt size for the first generation TSX is 69 inches. If you are buying Bando Belts the last four numbers are the measurement of the belt in millimeters. For example, in 7PK1755, the 1755 is 1755mm which is about 68.9 Inches. If you are buying Dayco Belt, the last four numbers are the measurement of the belt in inches. For example in 5070690, the 0690 is 69 inches. Each manufacturer has a chart with all their belt sizes, if you want something smaller, find the smaller size and buy that model.

Your tensioner should not be moving/shaking when the engine is running. After you install a new belt, the setting will move a tiny bit looser after you turn on the engine for the first time compared to before starting the engine for the first time. But once the engine is running it should remain in place, not move, and not shake.

If your belt is too loose, it can make a squealing noise. If your belt is too tight it can prematurely wear out your bearings on the pulleys. To avoid damaging your bearings, keep the tightness of the belt setting within the standard range as shown in the video.

The initial direction of a drive belt installation doesn't matter, but it's important to maintain the same rotation direction throughout its lifespan. If the belt needs to be removed, it should be reinstalled in the same direction it was running before removal. A simple way to remember this is to install the belt so the label is readable.
