This panel examines how filmmakers are monitoring and reducing the carbon footprint of their projects through sustainable on-set management. Panelists discuss the Ontario Green Screen, a collaborative initiative that offers innovative tools and training resources to promote sustainable film and television production practices in our province.

This panel discussion took place during Cinema Summit 2022, an ancillary event to Cinéfest International Film Festival.

🎬 Steve Belford, Actor/Director/Producer – Becoming Tom Thompson
An accomplished actor, producer, writer, and Ontario Green Screen Ambassador, Steve combines his passions for the outdoors, Canadian stories, and sustainability to guide his successful career in film and television. Select credits include The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, Heartland, The Good Witch, and Condor.

🎬 Chris Dunn, Production Consultant on Film Initiatives – Ontario Creates
Working with the Ontario Film Commission at Ontario Creates, Chris is the Lead Consultant for the Ontario Green Screen Initiative. The OGS develops and delivers tools, training and resources that help the industry make greener choices.

🎬 Leaticia Kaggwa, Environmental Sustainability Lead – CBC
Leaticia is on a mission to help content creators tell compelling stories while minimizing their environmental impact. She joined the CBC as their first ever Environmental Sustainability Lead in January 2022, where she collaborates with producers to track carbon emissions and implement sustainable production techniques.

🎬 David Hardy, Vice President of Sustainability and Stakeholder Affairs
David Hardy is the Vice President, Sustainability & Stakeholder Affairs at William F. White International and a 27-year veteran of the production sector.
Long a passionate advocate for a more environmentally sustainable industry, David works with colleagues and stakeholders to build global sustainability frameworks.
