Most important of all is of course your movement/exercise routine and healthy food intake.

For cultivating a healthy & active movement routine I’d like to invite you to practice in our Daily Yoga Classes batch starting in March. Comment ‘Daily Yoga’ to receive the details to your dm.

And food for fat-loss is something you get to hear plenty about.

So here’s a discussion about what’s not addressed in the fundamental level i.e the health of your nervous system (NS). Your NS is what’s driving, controlling, regulating everything in your body-mind complex.

So if you can dedicate some time in each day to regulating nervous system, then the healthy food you are eating & the exercise you are doing to reduce fat will give you maximum benefit.

2 things that have the strongest impact on the functioning of nervous system is your stress & sleep (both of which also play a vital role in fat metabolism!). Take a quick look at how - in simpler ways - to regulate your NS.

1. Movement practice: Whever you are moving, every corner of your body sends information to your brain as to what’s happening there. The more info brain receives the safer (more in control) it feels. The safer it feels, the calmer it stays! So practice mindful movement on mat at least 3 days a week to begin with (that’s why I proposed our Yoga class in the beginning!)
2. Voluntary ‘resting’: Practices like deep abdominal breathing, Bhramari, other chanting, eye movements, Yoga Nidra etc. help in voluntary activation of Vagus nerve to initiate the ‘rest & digest’ mode in the body, which calms the nervous system. This will also be covered in our yoga classes!
3. ⁠You need to make notional corrections to provide safety cues to your NS. Bhakti Yoga is ONE of the simplest ways to achieve that. There’s also gratitude journaling. DO NOT UNDERESTIMATE the power of these 2 practices, I’m telling you from my experience. They’ve brought a major shift in my mental/emotional health over the last few years.
4. ⁠The most ideal environment for optimum Growth Hormone release is at night when there’s 1. Normal Blood Sugar Level AND 2. Body is in Deep sleep state (N3). That’s where this next set of instructions come in handy - have an evening routine for better sleep: light & early dinner max by 7pm and at least 15 to 20 minutes of leisurely walk. You can also end the day with soaking your feet in warm water, or head massage etc. all of which will contribute to a deeper & restful sleep. Also try ‘no caffeine’ after 2pm (there’s a challenge isn’t it!). Let it be a consistent effort for at 3-6 months. Remember - going rogue on the weekends WILL NOT help your NS!

These are the bare minimum when it comes to regulating your NS and in turn the fat storage & utility in the body, ALONG WITH diet & exercise.

Just a heads up! - If you say ‘no time’ to these things, your body/mind will not give due importance to fat metabolism, rather it only stores it further more.
