Lego Whiplash: "Not My Tempo" Recreation with a Twist

Took another detour from Lego Batman to bring you this video. This is my first time using a DSLR camera to animate and the production quality was definitely a step up from my iPhone but its also brought its own set of challenges. For reasons that are beyond me, I came across a really annoying set of light flicker while animating in Stop Motion Studio. Every so often, the exposure would just jump to a very bright image even if I didn't manually adjust any of my camera settings. A few shots where this happened, I decided to go in and do a bit of colour correction so hopefully it doesn't take away from the enjoyment of this video. I could just be picky idk lmao

I go more in depth about the process on my Instagram but in order to get the drumming down, I had to take a copious amount of notes on every frame of the video so that I knew which drum component would be hit at which time. It was really helpful to have a game plan on this because it was good to know when a certain drum or cymbal would be hit as well as how many frames I have in between to get from each drum to the other. And in case you're curious, the only thing I decided not to animate was the pedal, except for two shots.

All in all, this project was extremely demanding and I really hope you enjoy. I also don't do a whole lot of comedy videos so I hope this made you chuckle (or at the very least exhale from your nose) once or twice. I don't know if I'll do another "recreation" video for a while because as fun as this project was, I really did miss being able to come up with my own shot composition and pace of editing. I'm really looking forward to filming Episode 6 again for that reason and in case you're curious on that, I have about 11 minutes filmed already but it might not be uploaded for another year lmao
