49ers Playoff Hopes Gone, So What Now?

Safe to say, this just wasn't the #49ers year. With once again a bad loss versus their division rival in the LA #Rams the 49ers fall to a 6-8 record, sitting the 4th place in the NFC West.

Through week 15 of the #NFL we now know where teams stand. The ones who are good, are winning. With Super Bowl expectations heading into the season, the 49ers have shown they are an average team. I would argue however, that you cannot discount what has occurred this year- plagued with injuries specifically to star players (i.e. CMC, Trent Williams, Brandon Aiyuk, Javon Hargrave) who have missed significant as well as key players who missed a handful of games (i.e. Huff, Dre Greenlaw, Mooney Ward, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel, Ricky Pearsall) - hell, even Brock Purdy missed a game with a shoulder injury this year. The season is awfully similar to their 2020 season following their Super Bowl loss in 2019 and considering the lost again in the super bowl in 2023.. super bowl hangover may be a real thing.

Following the Rams loss on Thursday Night Football, the Brock Purdy contract debate and started to turn up a notch. Everyone has an opinion about what Brock Purdy should get paid this offseason. Naturally with him not having his top play makers on the field consistently, his performance has regressed this year which add fuel to the fire about what the 49ers should do this offseason since he is eligible to get paid and the domino effect it will have with the rest of the team. It didn't help Purdy's agent came out recently stating Purdy is seeking a Top 5 QB contract which would be north of $55 MM per year. We know the 49ers are going to pay Brock big money this offseason but a lot will be seen once the contract T&Cs come out.

On one positive note, 49er fans got to see the true of Dre Greenlaw after his 10 month absence following his achilles tear..and BOY did he look GREAT!

With the 49ers now only having a 1% chance of making it into the playoffs, week 16 is here and it will be a reunion as the 49ers go up against Mike McDaniel and the Miami Dolphins in MIA. The Dolphins are having a similar season to the 49ers so really this is a "Ah who cares" game but it's always fun seeing Kyle face off against one of his former coaches.

We got lots to talk about... as many fans have already turned the page to the 2025 draft and season.
