Homi's argument:
1. A sense of belonging is important, but it is often not as simple as belonging to one national community.
2. A sense of belonging is certainly important and our attachment to some roots and culture is essential to being human. However, people can feel like they belong in multiple places.
3. Patriotic nationalism is important to who we are.
4. Tribal nationalism however is often based around a particular kind of, somewhat tyrannical figure, who presents himself as a breaking of traditions, and it represents the majority as if it is continually under threat.
5. Tribal nationalism is certainly increasing; everyone seems obsessed with deciding who belongs and who does not belong.
