Dark circles are among the most common problems that affect the skin around the eyes. They are known in medical jargon as idiopathic hyperchromias of the orbital ring.

The skin of the eyelids is the thinnest in the entire body and allows easy visualization of the changes that occur under it.

According to the histopathological studies carried out, this alteration in the coloration of the skin of the eyes is due in most cases to an excessive production of melanin and to the dilation of the capillaries near the surface of the skin.

These alterations usually follow the anatomy of the orbicularis oculi muscle that surrounds the orbit.
