A five-member Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Kolkata police has seized the clothes of the prime accused, Manojit Mishra, which he had worn while committing the crime. The clothes of the other two accused are also being confiscated.

According to police sources, all the clothes are being sent to a laboratory for forensic examination.

"In cases of crimes like rape, most of the time the mark of semen, hair or blood remains on the clothes of the accused, which can be detected only through forensic examination. These play a major role in proving the charges against them during the investigation", an officer told India Today.
