The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), a joint venture of the Government of India and participating state governments, invited bids to begin the process of preparation of the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the Delhi-Varanasi high-speed rail corridor.
The government has begun work on its plans for 865-km long a second high-speed rail corridor in the country, between Delhi and Varanasi.

The bullet train could reach the Delhi to Varanasi route in four-and-a-half hours, once completed.
