Exploring Hanoi & Ha Long Bay: Vietnam Travel Vlog | Real Stories, Coffee, and Cruise Adventures
Welcome to the first part of my 11-day journey through Vietnam, where I take you on an unforgettable adventure, sharing everything from the vibrant streets of Hanoi to the serene beauty of Ha Long Bay. I’ve planned this trip entirely on my own—no agents or third parties—ensuring that every experience is as authentic and raw as possible. In this video, I’ll keep it real, highlighting both the breathtaking moments and the ground realities of traveling through this beautiful country.
Hanoi – The Heartbeat of Vietnam
Our adventure kicks off in Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam, a place where ancient traditions meet modern chaos. This bustling city is alive with energy, and its streets are a sensory overload of sights, sounds, and flavors. Wander through the Old Quarter, a maze of narrow streets each dedicated to a specific trade, where you’ll see locals selling everything from silk to street food.
We’ll also visit iconic landmarks like Hoan Kiem Lake, a peaceful spot surrounded by urban life, and the Temple of Literature, a sanctuary of calm and history in the middle of the city. The solemn yet inspiring Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum offers insight into Vietnam’s rich history and its revered leader.
One of the highlights of this part of the journey is Hanoi’s coffee culture. You’ve probably heard about Vietnam’s famous Egg Coffee (Cà Phê Trứng), but wait until you see it being made and, of course, tasted! This creamy, sweet, and rich coffee is a must-try for any visitor to Hanoi. I’ll take you to some of the best spots to enjoy a cup of this unique treat.
But it’s not all perfect. I’ll give you a real glimpse of the city, from the chaotic traffic and honking horns to the hustle and bustle that can be overwhelming for first-time travelers. Hanoi is a city of contrasts, and that’s exactly what makes it so fascinating.
The Road to Ha Long Bay
From the urban frenzy of Hanoi, we journey to Ha Long Bay, one of Vietnam’s most iconic natural wonders. The drive itself is an experience, passing through serene rural landscapes dotted with rice paddies and small villages. Along the way, you’ll see a different side of Vietnam—quiet, picturesque, and refreshingly slow-paced compared to the city.
A Night on a Ha Long Bay Cruise
Once at Ha Long Bay, we board a cruise to explore this UNESCO World Heritage Site. Imagine gliding through emerald-green waters surrounded by towering limestone karsts—it’s as magical as it sounds. Onboard, I’ll take you through some of the best activities the cruise has to offer:
• Cave Explorations: We’ll visit incredible natural wonders like Sung Sot Cave and Thien Cung Cave, each more awe-inspiring than the last.
• Kayaking Adventures: Paddle through hidden lagoons, explore secluded beaches, and get up close to the bay’s unique rock formations.
• Sunset and Starlit Nights: As the sun sets over the bay, the sky transforms into a palette of colors, making for the perfect photo opportunities. Later, relax under a starry sky, a serene end to the day.
• Fresh Seafood Dining: Onboard dining is an experience in itself, with dishes prepared using the freshest seafood from the bay.
While Ha Long Bay is undoubtedly beautiful, I’ll also address some of the challenges, like the crowded tourist areas and the commercialization of certain spots. Still, the magic of spending a night on the water makes it an experience you can’t miss.
Keeping It Real
Throughout this video, I’ll share the pros and cons of my experiences in Hanoi and Ha Long Bay, giving you an unfiltered view of what it’s really like to travel here. From the serene landscapes to the everyday hustle of the city, you’ll see Vietnam as it is—beautiful, raw, and full of character.
